It’s early days yet, but my daughter and myself haven’t had a cigarette for over a week.
We invested in an electronic cigarette, but so far we haven’t really used it a great deal. We thought we were going to get cravings and have to use it on a fairly regular basis. Like lighting up with the tobacco. (We rolled our own). I really do hope we can keep it up, but at the moment it is looking promising. I suppose that proves that a large part of it was habit rather than addiction.
Apart from the health incentives, it is going to save us quite a bit of cash, although we did roll our own, due to the savings on ready-made cigarettes.
Will update each Friday with news of whether we are still managing to keep it up.
Below is a picture of one similar to the one we are using.

Good luck quitting, I am gonna try again soon, best I managed was a month owing to an aching wisdom tooth I was waiting to have extracted, stopped me being able to smoke. Then I did ok but craving came back. It really is habit though, my cigarettes are like clockwork everyday, same time slots throughout the day, breaking the routine can only help
Thanks. First thing in the morning with coffee was the “clockwork” one for me. Still having the E-cig first thing, but rest of the day not doing badly at all.
Good luck, Carol.
Thanks Jo.
Sending you strength to get through this! I never smoked but have had plenty of other addictions, so I know habit is a huge part of it.
Will there be a tapering down of the nicotine or is it too soon for you to decide? I have a friend who is interested in these, so I will be watching your posts for reviews.
Thanks. I hadn’t thought about tapering off the nicotine. Don’t know if they do different strengths. All I know is that I seem to be bothering about lighting up very little at the moment. Fingers crossed.
Good for you!!!! Hoping you continue! If you do regress, don’t beat yourself up over it…just renew strength and keep going!
Thanks. No I won’t, Just taking it a day at a time. The E cig is a nicotine fix, so can’t see me nipping out for baccy, hopefully.
Hope you make it in your efforts to beat Lady Nicotine. I gave up four years ago after my wife died of a cancer that was almost certainly smoking related. It’s a very hard habit to break, but hang in there. Best of luck!
Thanks Allan. Sorry for you loss, I hadn’t realised. People who have never smoked often don’t realise just how hard it is. x
Well done Carol. I have been using electric ciggies for about 5 years and I think they are great. I get mine direct from China which makes them even cheaper, they have stopped selling my model so I bought all the remaining batteries and atomizers they had which kind of forces me to continue using them! I prefer them to real ones now.
Thanks Mick, and well done you!
Well done, try avoid being with other smokers for the next 3 months
