About Me

A lot of people seem to be doing this, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. Will gradually add more.

Who knows, it might even inspire some future blog posts.

So in no particular order:

1. I live in Accrington, Lancashire, England
2. I have six children -
3. - Three of whom are left-handed
4. I have two grandsons
5. My favourite song ever is Unchained Melody, the Righteous Brothers version
6. I was top of the class in my last year at primary school
7. I cannot drive and have never wanted to. The thought of me behind the wheel terrifies me
8. Went to college in 2001 and learned HTML. Built websites for a Boys’ Brigade group and a church among others
9. Won the Jacob Bridge Mechanical scholarship at college in 2002. £200 prize
10. I hate tea, only ever drink coffee
11. I have tons of books, but I don’t read fiction. Prefer reference, factual, self-help and the occasional biography
12. My favourite meal is cheesy pasta, followed closely by fried egg sandwiches
13. I am a quarter Irish
14. I am a Virgo, not that I believe in all that stuff
15. I like doing cryptic crosswords
16. I like all types of music apart from Jazz
17. My youngest children are twins
18. Not yet owned a smart phone
19. If I had to choose between TV and computer, the computer would win
20. Whilst in primary school I missed 6 months education after having measles and Glandular fever consecutively
21. My favourite comedian ever was Eric Morecambe. Everything he did made me smile.
22. When I was little I used to turn my bedroom light off and take a running jump onto the bed, in case there was a monster underneath
23. I snore badly… so I’ve been told
24. I was diagnosed with an under-active thyroid at 40
25. Won a poetry competition in 2011. Prize was a pair of top of the range cordless phones
26. I’ve had several letters, photos and poems printed in the local paper
27. I hate yoghurt and olives
28. I had a close call when I was knocked down by a car in 1997
29. Was put on the wrong bus going to school when I was six. Now have an irrational fear of ending up in the wrong place on public transport
30. Achieved my GCSE Maths, Grade B when I was 49
31. I was born in 1953
32. I like watching documentary programmes
33. I’ve had an on/off battle with depression for the last ten years
34. My favourite TV personality is Stephen Fry. I think he’s amazing and brilliant
35. I’ve never been abroad, or had the inclination
36. I’m good with power tools, doing all my own DIY
37. I am short, just 5 ft tall
38. I suffer from sleep paralysis occasionally
39. I have never broken a bone – yet
40. I can’t whistle
41. I recently did some voluntary work in a charity shop
42. I love getting bargains at charity shops, jumble sales and flea markets.
